Background

As MathWorks expanded its workforce, there was a growing need to increase the capacity of their UX labs to support more extensive usability testing and design collaboration, both locally and remotely.

Pain

The existing lab infrastructure was insufficient to handle the increasing demand for advanced usability testing and remote collaboration. Users needed a more versatile and scalable environment to support their expanding operations.

Proposal & Delivery

The solution involved researching the latest usability test practices from leading tech companies like Microsoft and Google, followed by brainstorming and prototyping new capabilities. This led to the creation of a customized space that integrated advanced hardware and mobile app design, tailored to MathWorks’ unique needs.

While the project was quite unusual in the sense that it was a combination of hardware integration and mobile app design we still applied standard UX research and design methodologies.

It did require a much more hands on approach as we spec’d out a space that non of the vendors had built before.
